This year has started with a lot of activities and also some changes at the office:

Welcome to the Annual General Meeting of Caritas Finland on April 10th at 4.30 pm!
The Annual General Meeting will cover the renewal of the Caritas Finland’s logo and visual identity among other things. The meeting will be held in the Parish Hall of St. Henry’s Cathedral (Pyhän Henrikin aukio 1). Coffee will be served. Welcome!
Spring at the Friendship Café and an excursion to Oodi
The Café will take place at Caritas office (Kuusitie 6, Helsinki) on Wednesdays at 3-5 pm on the following dates: March 20th, April 17th, May 15th and June 12th. Welcome!
We will also make an excursion to Helsinki’s new Central Library Oodi on Friday March 15th together with activity centre Trapesa. We will leave from Caritas office at 12.15 pm or you can meet us at Oodi’s lobby at 12.45.
Caritas’ voluntary social worker, Hannele Liukkonen, will be present at the Café. Feel free to reserve a personal appointment with Hannele if you have questions concerning social security or your life situation in general. Do you want to do charity work together with other young people?
YoungCaritas is about young people working together for peace and global solidarity. Come join us and plan YoungCaritas activities in Finland. The first meeting is on April 5th at 5.30 pm at Caritas office (Kuusitie 6, Helsinki). If you need support for travel expenses, please contact email@example.com.
A new group for young mothers and fathers starts in March
The Duuni group is primarily meant for 16-29-year-old mothers and fathers, who are unemployed or without education. The group helps you to discover your skills, strengths and interests with the goal of returning to studies or finding employment. Participation is free of charge. The preliminary starting date for the new group is March 14th.

Support summer camp activities for children and youth

Hey young mother or father! Welcome to participate in DUUNI-project at Caritas Finland. DUUNI-groups are free and meant for 16-29-year-old mothers and fathers, who are unemployed or without education. The group offers support and information on how to return to studies or to find employment. The groups start in autumn 2018.
The first info session will be at the Caritas office at 3-5pm on 28th June. The session is open to anyone who is interested in the project. The session will be in English and Finnish. Welcome! For more information and registrations, please contact:

DUUNI-project is funded by the EU, and is organized in cooperation with Turku University of Applied Sciences, Lahti University of Applied Sciences, University of Lapland, and two NGOs: Kirjan talo (Turku) and Liiku (Turku).
According to Eurostat, 1 out of 3 youth in Europe are suffering from the consequences of poverty. With the aim of providing a narrative to accompany existing statistical data compiled officially, the Caritas Europa network collected grass-roots information from its members that reflect the qualitative situation of young Europeans using the social services offered by European Caritas organisations in 16 countries. The findings are alarming as they document the rising exclusion of young men and women, emerging sentiments of intergenerational injustice, and a loudening claim that the European promise for equal opportunities and the levelling out of regional disparities is broken and in need of serious attention.
