A new board has been elected for Caritas Finland. On April 25, 2024, Caritas' annual meeting elected new board members. The current board has six new members and three whose term continues. The members of the current board are bishop Raimo Goyarrola, Pekka Palokangas, Mariam Dano, Osmo Vartiainen, Veronika Pollastrini, father Joosef Dang, Klaus Damsten, Alexandra Lahti–Nuuttila and Giovanni Canarecci. Bishop Raimo will also become the chairman of the board.
At the meeting, we also said goodbye to the outgoing board members, which were Bishop Emeritus Teemu Sippo, Meisa Dano, Gloria Lapitan, Katia Orellana, father Ryszard Mis, Elie El-Khouri and Francesco Ferrari.
At the annual meeting, the general secretary of Caritas Europa, Maria Nyman, was a special guest. In her speech, she talked about the values behind Caritas, Christian love of neighbor. She reminded that the Good Samaritan did not ask about the background of the person being helped or the need for help. He helped without asking. The same spirit is behind the relief work of Caritas.
During her visit, Nyman met several representatives of different churches and was moved by how we pull together. In Nyman's opinion, organizations with a religious background play an important role in today's world. She was pleased that Caritas Finland is an influential and dedicated organization, even though it is small in size.
At the end of the meeting, the participants enjoyed Indonesian food prepared by the volunteers.

Welcome to the opening of the My Equal Life exhibition and the Bangladesh evening on May 14, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
At the event, there is an opportunity to get to know Bangladeshi everyday life and the challenges of a migrant worker. We get to know the touching pictures of GMB Akash and the stories of the people in the pictures. We also hear greetings from Caritas' development cooperation project. It prevents people from becoming victims of human trafficking and supports those who have already become victims.
My Equal Life exhibition presents almost twenty photographs of Akash, which are accompanied by stories of people living on the fringes of society. It is open at the Entresse library from 7 to 25 May 2024.

Welcome to Silvana's La Fiesta after-work evening at the Caritas shop on May 17, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. In the evening, there will be offers in the store, light refreshments and Latino music.
Courage to change the world - Welcome to the World Village 2024 festival
The sustainable development festival, World Village festival, takes over Helsinki's Suvilahti in the last week of May. The weekend offers activities for the whole family – music, workshops, good food and plenty of different non-governmental organizations.
You can find Caritas Finland at the Market of Possibilities at M524 Sat 25.5. from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sun. 26.5. from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. At the Caritas table, you can hear about our development cooperation projects, step into the shoes of a Bangladeshi migrant worker and make purchases, the proceeds of which go to benefit our development cooperation projects.
Caritas' food distribution will be on hiatus for the entire summer. The last distribution before the break is 27.5 and the next is 2.9.2024 at 15:00.
A donation brings a summer experience
Donate support for summer camps! Caritas Finland supports needy children and young people in camp fees. Camp support offers children and young people a camp experience. With your support, the campers will have a variety to spend their vacation. Support gives families financial relief. As summer approaches, the need for support is greatest. For example, children participating in Ursuline children's camps and young people participating in confirmation camps receive camp support.
