Summer greetings from the Caritas office!
The activities at Caritas Finland are starting again little by little. At the end of May we arranged a seminar for young people interested in development cooperation, together with IYC Finland. In June we arranged a summer bazaar with our volunteers and summer interns David and Ella. Also the Friendship café got together after a long break.
Changes will be taking place in our office team, from which you can read in the newsletter below. The summer camps are also getting started and we are still hoping for donations for our collection to support families in Finland, so that as many children as possible could get a chance to enjoy the summer camp activities!

A new communications specialist at Caritas Finland

An open position for a coordinator at Caritas Finland

Summer interns at Caritas Finland

Support children to participate in summer camps
Many children are looking forward to a summer camp but because of the corona crisis many more low-income families face challenges in getting the money together for the camp fees. Caritas Finland supports children and youth around Finland through the Catholic parishes and in addition supports young people in arranging summer activities. Caritas helps annually dozens of children to participate in summer camps when the family’s own resources are not enough and they cannot get help from elsewhere. News from the Penghibur Children Home in Indonesia
Children have been joining school activities remotely as a result of the corona epidemic. In addition to studying, children also participate to many kinds of hobbies which develop children’s skills and self-esteem. Many of them are related to gardening and animal care in the large garden of the children home. In the spring the children and youth have practiced entrepreneurshop skills by making organic compost and growing chili as well as other vegetable seedlings for sale. This year Caritas Finland supports Children home activities together with the Sääksmäki Lutheran parish and with our development cooperation donors' support.
